A nucleus from the pollen grain moves down the pollen tube to meet the female sex cell in the ovary.

The fusion of male and female nuclei in plants is called fertilisation.

The female sex cells are located in ovules inside the ovary of the flower.

After fertilisation, the ovule matures into a seed.

A seed contains:

2. A food supply to provide nutrients during germination

As the seeds mature, the ovary develops into a fruit around each seed.

Seed dispersal is important because it spreads out seeds so that seedlings don't compete with each other for resources like water, nutrients, and light.
